This is a very rare Lower cambrian fossil. It is an enigmatic Camptostroma roddyi plate from York County, Pennsylvania. Camptostromas are one of the earliest known types of echinoderms. Found in the Lower Cambrian, these rare, Medusa-like animals had a distinct plate structure and an unusual orange-brown coloration in the Kinzers shale. There is a cluster of THREE very nice examples on this repaired plate. The fossils have great detail and fabulous color preserved, which contrasts beautifully with the dull-colored matrix. The tiny, distinct plates are easily seen under magnification, and the distinct radial designs are also quite evident. This is a displayable multiple example of this unusual Lower Cambrian echinoderm from Pennsylvania.
