This is a great specimen of Aequipecten sp. from the Pliocene of Florida. This large mollusk has both valves present and tightly articulated. Both sides of the specimen are free of matrix and very clean in appearance. The only matrix that is present is filling in the space between the valves. The large bivalve displays excellent ornamentation. The coarse radial corrugations are clearly defined and the fine growth lines are easily seen. There is also another well preserved fossil clam firmly attached (near the left "ear") to this large bivalve. This is a wonderful specimen of a large fossil bivalve from Florida.
