Here is a nice European ammonite. It is a distinct Dactylioceras commune from the Jurassic of England. This type of ammonite has many whorls with closely-spaced ribs and a very rounded keel. This specimen is quite 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail - the ribbing pattern is easily seen, and many of the tiny inner whorls are still intact. But the coolest feature of this ammonite is that it is a split pair concretion - the "cap" side that fits on the ammonite is also present! This is a very detailed Pos/neg example of this many-whorled ammonite from England.
