This is a very rare Lower cambrian fossil. It is a very unusual split pair Camptostroma roddyi double from York County, Pennsylvania. Camptostromas are some of the earliest known types of echinoderms. Found in the Lower Cambrian, these enigmatic, Medusa-like animals had a distinct plate structure and an unusual orange-brown coloration in the Kinzers shale. There is a split pair of TWO very nice examples on this part/counterpart specimen. The fossils have fantastic detail and fabulous natural color preserved, which contrasts beautifully with the grey matrix. The tiny, distinct plates are easily seen, especially under magnification, and the unique radial designs are also quite evident. And, again, this is a split pair fossil - both halves of the fossil are present and offered here together. This is a very collectible split pair double example of this extinct, primitive Lower Cambrian echinoderm from Pennsylvania.
