Here is an extremely rare fossil. This is a great specimen of Macaridian sp. from the Silurian of New York. This armor-plated worm is one of the rarest fossils to be found in the Rochester Shale. This specimen is one of the nicest that we have ever seen - the individual plates are extremely well defined. The worm is preserved in a 3-dimensional manner and is almost perfectly centered on the natural plate of shale that also contains partial remains of several brachiopods. This is a wonderful specimen of this highly unusual fossil worm.
