Here is a great specimen of an extremely unusual fossil. This is an excellent example of Discalioides sp., a fossil jellyfish. Jellyfish are very rare in the fossil record because of their delicate nature. This specimen exhibits great detail - even the swooping "trail" of the jellyfish is preserved on the large, natural plate. There are also several faint "ghost images" of other jellyfish present on the plate. This is the best example of Discalioides that we have ever seen.
