Here is a wonderful multiple plate of shrimp. These are Carpopenaeus callirostris from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, specimens from this location are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. There are five shrimp beautifully displayed on this plate of limestone. It is quite unusual to find this many shrimp preserved this closely together. Although the shrimp have been darkened for contrast (typical of this site), they exhibit wonderful detail. The segmented carapaces, legs, and antennae are easily seen. The fossils are wonderfully positioned on the rectangular plate of limestone. This is a very displayable plate of fossil shrimp from Lebanon.
