Here is a very nice Mammoth tooth from the Ice Age of Russia. This is from the Woolly Mammoth, Mammuthus primigenius. This tooth is extremely large, definitely from an adult mammoth. The grinding surface is well displayed and shows the plate structure nicely. Most of the long roots of the tooth are present. The tooth has very interesting color - it is very dark with unusual reddish highlights. And it is HEAVY - definitely a fossil tooth. This is a fine example of a large mammoth tooth from the permafrost of Siberia.
