Here is a very interesting plate of fossils from the Devonian of Ohio. This slab is from the famous Silica Shale deposits. Almost the entire surface of the large plate is covered with fossils. There are many nice Mucrospirifer brachiopods preserved on the slab. These "winged" brachiopods exhibit fine detail. The radial ornamentation is clearly defined and the growth lines are quite evident. There is also a complete trilobite on the slab. This Eldredgeops milleri is enrolled and has great eyes - the individual lenses are easily seen. This is a great plate of fossils from the Devonian sea floor.
