Here is an excellent multiple plate of Pentremites sp. from the Mississippian of Illinois. There are at least two different species of Pentremites on this plate. One type has a very short pelvis, while the other kind has an elongated pelvis. The blastoids are extremely inflated and exhibit wonderful detail. The plate structure of these primitive echinoderms is superb and the ambulacra are well defined. Even the small spiracles at the tops of the blastoids are easily seen. There are also two brachiopods present on the plate. One is a "winged" Spiriferid and the other is Atrypa sp. The fossils have good color and contrast. They are nicely presented on the large, natural, multi-colored plate of shale. This is a very fine multiple plate of fossils from the Mississippian.
