Here is a very attractive ammonite. This is Cleoniceras cleon from the Cretaceous of Madagascar. This huge ammonite has been cut in half and both halves have been polished. The individual chambers of the cephalopod are easily seen - many of the chambers are hollow and lined with golden calcite crystals. Even the back side of the ammonite has been polished to reveal many beautiful iridescent colors. This is an extremely large ammonite that displays the individual chambers in wonderful fashion.
